The application deadline was January 15, 2010. We are no longer accepting applications for the 2010-2011 school year. If you have not had a chance to tour the school, we invite you to start this process in September 2010 for the 2011-12 school year.
We also recommend our series of four prospective parent classes that will begin again in the fall of 2010. These classes are designed to help you learn more about both Montessori education and The Post Oak School, and can be taken even before your school tour.
All students attend school at Post Oak Monday–Friday only; we do not offer any two- or three-day options.
If you have any questions about the admission process, you can email the admission director at admission@postoakschool.org,
call 713-661-6688, or fax 713-661-4959.
The application itself is only available at the time of the school tour. You may request an information packet by email, telephone, or fax.
Dear Parents:
Thank you for your interest in The Post Oak School. We are the oldest accredited Montessori school in the Southwest, and are nationally recognized for our exemplary program and facility. This website contains a fact sheet (3,235K PDF) to help you learn more about the school.
If you choose The Post Oak School for your child, we recommend that you enroll her or him as young as possible in order to take advantage of the crucial sensitive periods of learning which occur between birth and five years of age.
The Infant Community is designed for children 14 months to 3 years of age. The teachers, who are specifically trained to work with this age group, provide a safe, supportive environment scaled to the young child's needs and stimulating to the learning process required for future academic skills. Children entering this community will only do so between the ages of 14 months and 2 years old.
The Primary Program is a three-year program, and the optimal time to enter is between 2˝ and 3˝ years of age. Children remain in Primary through age six. Children four and five years old are considered for admission on an individual basis with the preference given to transferring Montessori students.
Our Upper School consists of three levels: the two stages of Elementary (Lower, for ages 6 through 9; and Upper, for ages 9 through 12) and Middle School, for ages 12 through 14. Applicants for admission to the Upper School are considered on an individual basis. Prior Montessori experience is preferred.
The Post Oak School offers before- and after-school programs at each level. Enrichment classes as well as private musical instruction are also available.
We encourage interested parents to visit the school and tour the facilities with the Director of Admission. Please check back after Labor Day for online tour registration to schedule your visit.
Thank you for considering The Post Oak School.
