Class Descriptions

Montessori 101 is designed for parents with children at all levels. It answers the questions: Who was Dr. Maria Montessori? What are the essential characteristics of a Montessori environment? What are the four planes of development and why are they significant to Montessori education? (Bissonnet Campus, 4600 Bissonnet St.)

At Home with Montessori: Primary Essentials is designed for parents of children eligible for Young Children's Community and Primary (14 months through age 6). Parents often ask, “What can I do at home?” This class gives both the guiding principles and pragmatic suggestions for how to have a home environment that balances the child’s need for independence with the adult’s need for efficiency and comfort. (Bissonnet Campus, 4600 Bissonnet St.)

Elementary Essentials is designed for parents of Elementary students (grades one through six) and covers the following topics: transition from Montessori Primary to Elementary, changes in the children at this stage of development, how the Elementary classroom changes to meet their needs, and ways parents can support their elementary-aged children. (Bissonnet Campus, 4600 Bissonnet St.)

Learning for Life covers the transition into adolescence and how the work done during this time of life lays the foundation for a lifetime of learning and connections with the adult world. Topics include: the right work for teenagers, becoming an adult, and connecting the dots of a Post Oak education. (Museum District Campus, 1010 Autrey St.)
