Houston Music Experience

Music is one thing that all people have in common. It is the universal language, bringing together all kinds of people to sing, dance, laugh, cry, think, and celebrate life. In this course, students took the history of American Music and made it local. Students learned more about the music history of Houston by listening to lectures and the music of influential Houston artists, watching documentaries, visiting historical music sites such as KPFT, the Continental Club, Soundwaves, and attended live performances. Students’ culminating activity was a creative presentation worthy of the funky vibe and rich history that is the Houston Music Experience.
