The Art Market is underway and Post Oak students of all ages have dedicated time to creating beautiful pieces to display and sell in support of the school.
These works incorporate many different mediums, including layered paper, painting, drawing, and much more!
I got an insider look at what students at the Museum District Campus were working on and learned about two projects by dedicated young artists.
A High School Tale
By Sutton W. '22
Using a creation from J-Term 2021, Sutton recycled her intricately cut paper diorama design entitled “A High School Tale.” Through a digital design process on Adobe Illustrator, Sutton intricately layered various shades of blue paper, which were glued together to create depth. She was able to spend some of her precious free time as a busy junior and used her love of art to support the school!
Pirate Ship at Sunset
By Amelie P. '26
Middle school student Amelie was inspired by romantic painter Ivan Aviazovsky when she created "Pirate Ship at Sunset." She took the detailed marine inspiration and transformed it into her own work using watercolors and drawing. Her piece features an enormous ship like those depicted in many of Aviazovsky’s paintings. The Art Market created a perfect opportunity for her to practice mixing different colors to create the perfect hues, now on view in the beautiful background of her piece!
