This year our A-Term students challenged themselves both physically and mentally. I’m serious! With courses ranging from martial arts to physics, students used A-Term as a chance to build up their brains and biceps. A diverse course selection allowed high schoolers to pursue different interests, whether in civics, woodworking, investing, or golf.
In woodworking, crafty students took simple pieces of wood and transformed them into works of art. By using precise cuts and other advanced and detail-oriented techniques, they were able to create finished projects, such as a dog bowl stand and a sword shelf! Students turned wood into functional and polished pieces with considerable time, effort, and lots of precision.
And for our non-power tool types? Other students spend their days putting to their hearts’ content. In this outdoor course, back by popular demand, students further honed their technique and mindset to play the great game of golf.
Our sports-loving non-golfers tried their hand at martial arts! In this course, students improved both physically and mentally by learning about the determination that goes into this thoughtful practice. Students gained confidence and a deeper understanding of the sport and its history.
Then there were those who preferred a different type of force: a physics force. In this A-Term students turned their brainpower towards engineering challenges, such as dropping eggs off balconies and balancing marshmallows. By conducting various experiments and activities they learned a lot about physics in a short amount of time.
A-Term was a success! Whether students advanced a previous interest or were discovering something for the first time, they were able to practice and perfect skills, gain new knowledge and experiences, and follow their interests and passions for nearly two weeks of captivating courses.
