Inspired by the Golden Ratio and the Fibonacci Spiral, this piece was created by layering laser-cut hardwoods to create this striking chambered nautilus. The ash, maple, cherry, African mahogany, walnut, and wenge wood panels were selected and sequenced in an order that complemented the deepening of each of the chambers. Students designed each layer in Illustrator and laser-cut each panel before creating the walnut frame that surrounds it.
