Partnership

At Post Oak, mitigating the risk of the spread of the virus and maintaining a safe environment inside the school requires all of us to do our part outside of school. Our partnership with you has never been more critical as we navigate a global pandemic. With the availability of an effective and safe vaccine, Post Oak strongly encourages all community members who are eligible to get vaccinated.

We expect all of you to follow the health and safety guidelines as laid out by health professionals worldwide:

  • Restrict your family’s exposure to large crowds.
  • Practice physical distancing and wear a mask in high transmission areas and public indoor spaces.
  • Teach your children the importance of thorough hand washing.
  • Teach your children how to properly wear a mask.
  • Do not bring students to campus if they are exhibiting symptoms of COVID-19 or any other transmissible illness.
  • Do not bring unvaccinated students to campus if they have been exposed to anyone who has COVID-19 or anyone who is exhibiting symptoms.
  • Follow CDC recommendations regarding travel and self-quarantine when returning from travel to specific areas of the country and the world.
  • Report any information to the school that will assist us in maintaining a safe environment.
  • Be flexible—our plans may change as the situation with the virus changes.
  • Look for updates to this plan on the website regularly, and read The Post e-newsletter every Friday.

Health, Safety, & Emotional Wellbeing

At Post Oak, we also know that emotional wellbeing—a sense of connection, safety, and security—is as important for learning as physical safety.
As we did for the majority of last year, Post Oak will aim to keep students engaged in-person, as we know that students are at their best when they feel a sense of security, closeness, and community with peers and teachers.

Our health and safety practices require cooperation from all of the adults, students, and families to keep our school open.

Summer school provided students plenty of opportunities for fun and service.

What Happens When Someone Gets Sick

A direct exposure is defined as any individual who has had close contact (within three feet of the individual for more than 15 minutes) with someone who has tested positive for COVID-19 or is suspected of having COVID-19. The close contact definition excludes students who were within three feet of an infected student if both the infected student and the exposed student(s) correctly and consistently wore well-fitting masks the entire time, as Post Oak is requiring them to do.

*Close contact means spending 15 minutes or longer and within six feet of an infected person.

Programs

Community Events

Maintaining community connection is important to the life of the school especially during challenging times. Event restrictions at the beginning of the year will be imposed on large groups gathering inside. When possible, events will shift online, be reimagined, or be postponed. For smaller events and gatherings, masks must be worn by all participants and appropriate distancing measures followed.

All beginning of the year parent orientations will be virtual.

At this time, we are moving ahead with plans for Family Fun Day, Grandparents Day, Gala, and Book Fair.
