Parent Education & Support

The purpose of our parent education events is to strengthen the child-parent-teacher relationships by offering programs, speakers, and publications that focus on Montessori educational principles and practices, parenting skills, and child development issues. It is essential that all Post Oak parents make a habit of attending these events offered by the school throughout the year.

In addition to the school calendar, The Post weekly email will give notice of upcoming events. Parents are welcomed and encouraged not only to attend these events but also to assist in program development and in the support of particular events such as the Montessori Journey. Contact your child’s division director for more information about specific events.

Observation at the Bissonnet Campus

We encourage you to visit Post Oak to learn as much as possible about the classroom. Please read the guidelines below carefully so that the children’s day will be as uninterrupted as possible, since some children may react to your presence. To minimize that disruption, please turn off your cell phone and do not make calls from the observation area. Please do not bring in other electronic devices or use your phone’s camera or video recorder while inside or outside the classroom.

After Your Visit

Observation is highly recommended before conference time; it gives parents a better view of how their child is working in the classroom. At other times, a parent taking the time to visit will give the child a sense of how much the work they do at school is valued by their parent.

Parenting Resources at the Bissonnet Campus

Parenting books, articles, and DVDs are available to borrow from the Bissonnet Campus. If you have any materials that you would like to recommend or donate, please contact our school librarian, Cory Eckert.
