Book Fair 2024
Book Fair Day
Whether your student is learning to read or reading to learn, this engaging literary arts celebration promotes reading and heightens an awareness of literacy. There’s something for the whole family—we hope you’ll enjoy it!
Saturday, April 6, 2024
10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
Bissonnet Campus Gym (4600 Bissonnet St.)
Here are some of the fun activities!
- 10:15 a.m. Storytime for Young Children’s Community and Primary
Storytime features the always entertaining shaking of sillies, singing of songs, and spellbinding storytelling.
- 11:00 a.m. Lower Elementary Character Parade
Children in grades one through three can dress up as their favorite book character and join in the parade across the stage!
- 11:30 a.m. Upper Elementary Book Bee
UE children will work together to answer questions about their latest read assigned before the big day.
Volunteer at the Book Fair
We need volunteers for various activities. Slots are only an hour long, allowing time for you and your children to partake in the Book Fair activities.
You can find the list of volunteer opportunities, as well as sign up for them here! Reach out to Juliette Casas with any questions.
Crafting, Food Trucks, & Bearkat Fun
In addition to the schedule of events, we'll also have crafting stations, including one with the Houston Public Library. The Post Oak mascot, Beary the Bearkat, will be on hand for photos and school spirit. And when you're hungry, you can buy treats from the Acai Brasil and coffee from the Middle School Microeconomy. It's going to be big Bearkat fun! Come by and get your picture taken with the Bearkat!
Donate Your Used Books
The event includes a book drive benefiting The Book Cycle, a non-profit that extends the life cycle of books by finding them new homes and keeping them in circulation for free.
As you dive into spring cleaning, consider gathering books to donate—all types, age ranges, and categories welcomed! You can drop off your donations at the book fair.
Purchase New Books
Books, books, and more books! We’ve partnered with Literati to bring you a full-fledged book fair this year, with titles curated by our librarians available for purchase on the big day. Proceeds from all book purchases will go to the library.
