About Emily Hansen
Emily Hansen has been involved in Montessori education for more than twenty years. Her interest in Montessori began when she observed her Aunt Kathy’s Primary class at a school in Maryland. Amazed at the children’s joy, capabilities, tranquility, and self-directed learning, she knew she wanted to learn more about this pedagogy.
Emily started working at Post Oak in 2004, and immediately fell in love with the community. She began as a substitute teacher, experiencing all levels at the school. She soon pursued her Primary training under Dr. Annette Haines in St. Louis, Missouri, and also earned an MEd in Montessori Education from Loyola University. Emily was a lead guide in Primary for seven years, then a lead guide in the Young Children's Community for eleven years. She is an AMI Trainer at the 0-3 level.
Emily also is a proud Post Oak parent of two adolescents who began in the YCC—one is who is completing her Post Oak education and the other is a recent graduate. When she’s not pursuing her Montessori passion, Emily enjoys cooking and spending time with her family on road trips around the country.
