What are the transitions of the young child? How can parents support their child(ren) and what are some things to notice?
Mirani Smith and Miriam Winton guide parents of our youngest students, ages 14 months to 6 years, through the many transitions of the young child. As children begin with us, they are transitioning from home to school. For some, it is their first time spending their days outside of the home, and others will be joining us from daycare or other school environments. Once at Post Oak, students will transition from the Young Children's Community to Primary, and beyond. This talk will cover:
- Supporting Separation: How to support a child's entry into the Montessori environment from home or another environment.
- Signs of Readiness: What signs we look for to determine a child's readiness to transition.
- The YCC to Primary Transition: How we accommodate each child through observation, visits to Primary, and gradual immersion into the environment.
