New Family Welcome

We are delighted to have your family as part of this vibrant community. In a city of well over two million people and many educational options, we are so glad you chose Post Oak. Everywhere our students go, they get noticed for the questions they ask, their engagement, and their enthusiasm for learning.

Your Post Oak Journey Begins

Toward the end of April,* we’ll send you an email with your student’s new classroom teacher (lower school). It also includes details about the new parent gathering for that level. Families in the upper school can expect to learn their advisor’s name before the start of school in August.

In mid-May,* we’ll pair you with another family who has been at the school for a year or more. They are a friendly go-to for questions about life at Post Oak and getting to know another family in your child’s level. If you’re unable to connect for any reason, please let our Admissions team know. Summer can get busy, and we want you to feel connected right away.

*If you join us later in the school year, you can expect to receive an email with classroom assignment and hear from your host family shortly after signing your contract.

We’re so glad you’re here! We hope this page gives you a peek into what’s to come and helps you orient to the Parent Portal.

The Parent Portal

Our website includes an area dedicated to current parents. The Parent Portal homepage includes links to commonly-accessed resources, announcements, photo galleries, a calendar of the week, and the latest news. It also links to our Family Handbook.

Parent volunteers are vital to our annual events. We are grateful for your time and enthusiasm!

Getting Involved

As a parent of a Post Oak student, you are automatically a member of the Post Oak Parents Association (POPA). POPA organizes many community events and activities happening throughout the year. Our POPA chairs encourage all parents to sign up and start volunteering. Toward the end of summer, we publish the school year calendar and update events on our website. Look for the Community Coffee in the Bissonnet Campus gym at the end of the first full week of school.

What Does That Mean?

We love a good acronym. From the various levels (YCC, PRI, LE, UE, MS, and HS) to programs (ASEP, MMUN, A-Term, etc.), we can get letter-happy. Visit the Practical Info page if you’re stumped. Did you come across one we haven’t listed? Let us know.

Spirit, Let’s Hear It!

There’s a tee for that! And a mug, a notebook, or whatever you desire. Visit the official online store for your Bearkats merch.

Once again, welcome to The Post Oak School! Here’s to a great start on your Post Oak journey!
