Arrival & Dismissal General Guidelines: Safety First, Then Efficiency

  • Slow down when driving around the school’s parking lots: the speed limit is 5 mph.
  • Drivers: pay attention, stop, and allow any waiting pedestrians to pass through the crosswalk. Please do not block crosswalks at any time.
  • Pedestrians: please use the pedestrian gates and crosswalks.
  • Using a mobile phone while driving is against the law in Texas. This law is in full effect anytime you are operating a vehicle, including driving in the school parking lot. Stay alert! Give your child your full attention during arrival and dismissal. Mobile phones may only be used if your car is parked.
  • Be sure all students are buckled in their safety belts until the car comes to a complete stop at the arrival gate.
  • Buckle all safety belts before you resume driving.

  • Do not engage staff members in discussion during arrivals and dismissals. If you need to get a message to your child’s teacher, please call or send them an email.
  • Stay in your car when you are waiting in line. If you need to get out, please park in the visitor spaces of the parking lot.

At the Bissonnet Campus

  • When traveling south on Avenue B, please stay in a single line (do not form two lines to enter campus).
  • Be patient; a few seconds spent by you can be very important to the child who is gaining independence.
  • Do not send toys into school with your child.
