HR Business Partner

FLSA Classification: Exempt
Reports to: Chief Financial Officer

Role Overview

The human resources business partner is responsible for performing HR-related duties on a professional level. This position carries out responsibilities in the following functional areas: benefits administration, employee relations, training, performance management, onboarding, policy implementation, recruitment/employment, affirmative action, and employment law compliance. This position requires an extremely perceptive person who is capable of relating to individuals at all levels within the organization.

Major Responsibilities and Duties

  • Maintains all employee and applicant documentation as dictated by governing agencies.
  • Manages and tracks all employee disciplinary action.
  • Coaches, counsels, and guides managers before executing employee disciplinary actions.
  • Assists with recruitment tasks as needed (reviews applications, interviews).
  • Monitors tardy and absenteeism reports and ensures proper documentation is issued on employees who have excessive tardiness or absenteeism problems. Reports vacation, sick, personal day, and holiday use to payroll and scheduling. Maintains and distributes report of same.
  • Maintains employee personnel files.
  • Ensures compliance with USCIS Form I-9 Employment Eligibility Verification; periodically audits Forms I-9.
  • Distributes and monitors employee performance evaluations and ensures they are done in a timely manner (i.e., three months, six months, one year, etc.)
  • Reports, maintains, and monitors all workers' compensation case files; follows-up on open cases.
  • Manages the semi-monthly payroll process.
  • Monitors employee eligibility for benefits plans. Reviews benefits with employees and processes enrollment, cancellation, or changes. Organizes and manages annual open enrollment communications and election process. Maintains and distributes list of new and cancelled employees under each benefit plan. Verifies benefit billing accuracy and processes for payment.

Required Education and Experience

1. A bachelor's degree and five to seven years of HR experience, or a master's degree in HR management and three to four years of experience in the HR field, or ten years of experience in the HR field, or any similar combination of education and experience.

Preferred Education and Experience

1. Masters' degree in human resources or related field.
2. SHRM Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP) or SHRM Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-CP) credential.

This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.

Associate Admission Director, Museum District Campus

FLSA Classification: Full-Time, Exempt, with Benefits
Reports to: Admission Director

Role Overview

The associate admission director is responsible for Middle School and High School admissions, communications, and outreach.

Major Responsibilities and Duties

  • Cultivate new inquiries/leads for enrollment, maintain constant, close communication with all interested families throughout the entire admission process.
  • Cultivate relationships and coordinate visitation to/for feeder schools.
  • Conduct tours for prospective families, staff open houses, and be present for other school-wide events, both on and off campus. There are approximately six evening events throughout the year and one Sunday event during the school year.
  • Organize systematic and efficient collection and maintenance of student forms and files, both paper and electronic, using the school's student information systems.
  • Prepare and coordinate Middle and High School admission decision team meetings with division directors.
  • Maintain confidential communication with candidates, parents, and school staff.
  • Track and report relevant statistics of all aspects of the admission and re-enrollment process for Middle and High School students.
  • Schedule student applicant visits and interviews at the Middle and High School.
  • In collaboration with the faculty and division director, support student transition into the program.
  • Work with college counselor to schedule student speakers for open houses and other school-wide events and cultivate students for the ambassador program at the Middle and High School.
  • Develop alumni relations program working in conjunction with the Advancement team.
  • Collaborate with school marketing team on all aspects of the Middle and High School admissions with the goal of maintaining a capacity enrollment of mission-appropriate students.
  • Keep track of marketing materials for the Museum District Campus for open houses, tours, and visitors.
  • Serve as a liaison for all parents of Middle and High School students.
  • Front office reception and administration as needed.
  • Support Middle and High School directors as needed.

Education and Experience

  1. Bachelor's degree
  2. Experience working in independent school admissions
  3. Working knowledge of Montessori philosophy and practice preferred

High School Positions

The well-grounded candidate will have experience teaching high school students in the subject or related fields (experience with IB is a plus). This role involves the mentoring, guidance, and assessment of high school students on a college preparatory approach in all aspects of history and the social sciences. Topics include: history, historiography, economics, politics, geography, psychology, and sociology. Emphasis is on seminar discussion and primary sources without reliance on a textbook. This position also includes cultivating, building, and maintaining partnership connections in related organizations in the Houston Museum District and nearby surrounding areas.

High School Physics (Fall 2018)

The Physics Guide is a full time position in the science department responsible for curriculum development and instruction of integrated science for grades 9-10 and the integrated Montessori-International Baccalaureate (IB) physics curriculum for grades 11-12. This role involves the mentoring, guidance, and assessment of high school students on a college preparatory approach focusing on physics. Experience teaching mathematics or with any of computer science, programming, maker spaces, and robotics is a plus. Emphasis is on hands-on, real-world learning without reliance on a textbook. This position also includes cultivating, building, and maintaining partnership connections in related organizations in the Houston Museum District and nearby surrounding areas.

Part-time Substitute Position
