Thank you for your interest in The Post Oak School. Below are the steps necessary to begin the application process:

Now accepting applications for first through third grade for the 2017–2018 school year. If you are interested in a tour of The Post Oak School for these grades, please contact Vivian Blum, Admission Director.


If you would like a tour of the High School, please contact Tamara Basham, Associate Admission Director.

Tours at the Bissonnet Campus (Young Children's Community through 6th grade) are scheduled Tuesday through Thursday at 9:00 a.m. or 10:30 a.m. during the school year beginning in September. We highly recommend that all parents involved in choosing the school for a child tour before submitting an application.

Tours at the Museum District Campus (7th through 12th grade) can be scheduled by contacting Tamara Basham, Associate Admission Director for Middle School and High School.

Remember to register for prospective parent classes when scheduling your tour. Classes can be taken either before or after the tour.

After all parents involved in the school decision have taken a tour, you will receive the link to our online application. A non-refundable $100 application fee must accompany the application. Applications will not be accepted from a Post Oak School family with a delinquent balance.

The application deadline is January 13, 2017. High School applications received after January 13, 2017 will be considered on a rolling basis. Please contact Admission Director Vivian Blum for more High School information or click here to apply.

Parent Education

Prospective parents are strongly encouraged to immerse themselves in the Montessori approach by attending both parent education programs and prospective parent classes. Current Post Oak parents who plan to enroll younger siblings are invited to attend and share their experiences. These classes are held on Tuesday mornings and Monday evenings.


After the application deadline, you will be contacted to schedule an interview for your child. Interviews for Primary children (2½–6 years old) and Elementary students will be held at the end of February. Middle School and High School interviews will be scheduled as needed.


A transcript or a report card from a child's current school is required for students applying in grades 1–8. We require the two most recent progress reports and the most recent achievement-test scores. Teacher Recommendation

Sign a confidential teacher-recommendation form, obtained from the Post Oak website, which should be completed by your child's current teacher.

Admission Decisions

The head of school appoints admission committees whose responsibilities are to examine each prospective student's application, test scores, and academic record, and make enrollment recommendations to the head of school. Admission decisions are released after re-registration of current students and the completion of student interviews at the end of February. Decision letters will be mailed to families by mid-March.

Admission Calendar

  • Applications, transcripts and teacher recommendations are due by January 13, 2017.
  • Primary Admission Days are February 23 & 24, 2017.
  • Elementary Admission Day is February 24, 2017.
  • Middle School and High School interviews are scheduled on an as needed basis.
